Port Harcourt Housewife Hires Assassins to Kill Husband
A housewife is in police custody in Port Harcourt for allegedly planning and financing the murder of her husband Wednesday night, Saturday Sun reports. The deceased, a businessman and contractor with Nigerian Agip Oil Company, was killed at his country home in Mgbeoshimiri, Rumuolumeni, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state. According to Saturday Sun, the woman hid the contract killers in the house before her husband returned from work, since, according to her, he was “a strong man” whose powers needed to be neutralised before their task could be accomplished.
When the deceased returned home from work at about 11:30 pm, the wife drugged the oatmeal he requested, making him too weak to offer any resistance to the assassins. But they met their waterloo shortly after when one of them ran into the members of a neighbourhood watch group who noticed bloodstains on his clothes and promptly handed him over to the police. The woman confessed to the police that she decided to eliminate her husband because she found out he was making plans to marry a woman who was already pregnant for him.
